An Arima businessman charged in connection with a stolen vehicle investigation is expected to appear in court next week.
Abede Chalmers, 35, was formally charged with Possession of a Stolen Vehicle on September 19th, 2025. He is scheduled to appear before a High Court Master on Monday September 22nd, 2025, to answer the charge.
The charge stems from an incident on August 8th, 2025, when officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) seized a white Kia K2700 van at Rainbow Trace, Felicity, Chaguanas. Subsequent enquiries revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen during a February 17th, 2025, Robbery with Violence incident at Upper Irvin Street, Petit Bourg, San Juan.
A suspect was arrested on September 16th, 2025, following extensive investigations. After consultation with the CID/CRO Legal Department, advice was given to proceed with the charge.
The investigation was spearheaded by Senior Superintendent Maharaj, Superintendent Pariman, Assistant Superintendent Narine, and directly supervised by Inspector Lazarus. The charge was laid by Corporal Fenton of the Stolen Vehicles Squad.
The TTPS remains committed to combating vehicle-related crimes through intelligence-driven investigations and enforcement, and encourages members of the public to continue providing information that can aid in the recovery of stolen vehicles and the prosecution of offenders.
