Believe in Yourself: A Message of Success for SEA 2026 From The Prime Minister

As thousands of students prepare for the Secondary Entrance Assessment tomorrow, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar SC extends her warmest wishes for “success, strength, and peace of mind.” Reminding students that this exam is just one step in a much larger journey, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to a safe, digital-ready, and supportive education system for every child.

The following is her message to students :

“Thousands of children across Trinidad and Tobago will sit the Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) Examinations tomorrow , and I extend my very best wishes to each of you for success, strength, and peace of mind.

As you enter your examination rooms, remain calm, stay focused, and approach each question with confidence. Trust in your preparation, for it reflects months of effort and years of learning, discipline, and sacrifice, all of which are truly admirable at such a young stage of your lives.

As Prime Minister, I have issued clear instructions to all relevant authorities to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of these examinations, and to maintain order, quiet, and security at all centres so that every child can perform at their very best.

This year, you sit these examinations supported by a Government that is strengthening the education system and improving the conditions in which you learn.

We are expanding access to digital tools by providing free laptops to all Form One students, and taking firm action to tackle bullying and ensure that schools are safe, supportive environments where every child can focus and succeed.

These exams always remind me of my tenure as Minister of Education in 2000, when I pioneered universal secondary education, guaranteeing every child a place in secondary school and expanding opportunity for thousands.

The SEA examination emerged from that deep commitment to fairness and access, and more than two decades later, I continue to uphold those principles with the same resolve.

To the principals, teachers, and parents of the SEA class of 2026, I thank you for your dedication and unwavering support to our beautiful children.

And to our remarkable SEA students, always remember that you are loved, believed in, and valued. Do your best and believe in yourselves. This examination is only one step in a much larger journey, and your effort, your character, and your determination will shape the future you go on to build.

Remain grounded in faith, and know that with prayer and trust in God, all things are possible. Best of luck, and may God continue to bless and protect you all.”
