bpTT Moves Forward With Ginger Gas Development

A final investment decision to move forward with bpTT’s Ginger gas development project came from the company’s parent entity on Thursday.

The company’s Chief Executive Officer, Murray Auchincloss, revealed that the Ginger development project is one of less than a dozen new projects on which they are embarking.

Mr. Auchincloss was outlining bp’s new focus on oil and gas.

The Ginger development project will be bpTT’s fourth subsea operation in Trinidad and Tobago.

The company expects to see first gas from the Ginger project in 2027.

The development includes four subsea wells and the Mahogany B platform structure, which connects them all and branches back to the other wells in the area.

The well is expected to produce an average of 62,000 barrels of oil equivalent at its production peak.

The Ginger development, as well as the Cypre gas project, are the new initiatives bpTT has scheduled to begin in 2025.

The company also indicated there is another offshore gas discovery at its Frangipani exploration well.

Both Ginger and Frangipani are located off the South East coast of Trinidad.
