Eating and growing local food is the underlying aim of the National Agricultural Marketing and Development Corporation (NAMDEVCO), and the farmers they assist.
CEO, Nirmala Debysingh, says to grow for sustainability requires a plan on how to grow, how to boost growing, and acquiring a stable market. These relationships, Ms. Debysingh says, help farmers to grow more food for sustainability.
Ms. Debysingh says that while we must work on farmers’ management skills, we have to be aware that there are other factors which could affect the stated goal of a reduced Food Bill in T&T by 2025.
Bridging the gap between research and commercialisation, the NAMDEVCO CEO says, is a concrete way to reduce future challenges with more public-private partnerships.
