The 2026 National Calypso Monarch will again be competing for a $1 million first prize and a brand new vehicle courtesy of Lifestyle Motors.
President of the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organisation (TUCO), Ainsley King, revealed the prizes for this year at a draw for playing positions at the Dimanche Gras show.
“This year we decided, we announced at the Semi Final draw that the first prize will be one million TT dollars. We have decided from then to now that it will also have a car from Lifestyle Motors added to that $1 million.”
Mr. King also shared with TTT News how the decision came to be.
“We have been working with Lifestyle Motors for the past three years, and this year we decided that we would’ve just go the direction of the prize being $1 million. We got a call from them, and they were interested in maintaining that relationship and so we agreed based on the arrangements, and that is how it really end up where it is now.”
This year’s winner will be named at Dimanche Gras, held at the Grand Stand, Queen’s Park Savannah, on Sunday.
On Thursday, the 12 Calypso Monarch finalists picked their performance order for the Dimanche Gras competition in a random draw.
