Canadian Vlogger Sabrina Davidson Explores T&T’s Culinary Delights

A passion for food has brought Canadian vlogger Sabrina Davidson to T&T for an eight-day culinary journey, where she is sampling a rich and diverse range of local cuisine from across the nation.

From horseback riding to deep forest hikes in Trinidad, Ms. Davidson is making every moment of her visit memorable.

In 2025, she visited Tobago but said she craved more of the country’s mouth-watering dishes and decided to return.

TTT News met her at Flava Village at the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port of Spain on Friday, where she shared her experience.

“It’s got a little bit of everything in terms of food, in terms of nature, in terms of people and diversity. So, we’ve been everywhere from the deep south to the central part of Trinidad, we’ve been to the far east, east, southeast, just about everything and we’re going to go north now. So, we’re just trying to cover as much as we can in a short time.”

The tour was facilitated by David and Anna Rajpaulsingh of Island Girl Tours. Anna explains that it required a lot of planning, but Sabrina was able to try a lot of wonderful dishes here.

“We’ve done all kinds of different curries. She’s done, obviously, the curry crab, the curry goat, the curry duck. I told her by the end of this trip, we’re going to flip her inside out. So, she’s going to be yellow from the inside. All of the different flavours we’ve had. We’ve had some really good food out in Mayaro. Some of the seafood and stuff like that. They had lobster done in a very different way. So, she’s had a good mixture of spices and stuff like that. And we are having different varieties of wild meat. So, like this evening, she’s going to be trying capybara pelau.”

So, what was Sabrina’s favourite food on this trip?

“That’s going to be one of the hardest questions ever. I got to try saheena for the first time while I was here. Excellent street food, super tasty but I think the curry goat that we had last night, which was cooked over a wood fire. Insane, so delicious.”

Another highlight was the hospitality she received during her time here.

“The people have been fantastic. One of the main reasons I actually came back was the hospitality and how friendly people are. And especially out in the countryside, in the villages, you could just walk down the street and say, ‘Hey, how are you?’ And people are like, ‘Hey, come on, come lime with us.’ That’s the main experience we’ve had where we’ve just been meeting people. They’re like, ‘Okay, come with us. We’re going to eat. We’re going to drink. We’re going to dance. We’re going to have a good time.’ And that has been almost every interaction that we’ve had so far here in Trinidad.”

Sabrina also took the opportunity to encourage more people to visit.

“I would say take the chance and just come. You will meet so many amazing people. You’ll be able to dive into so many different cultures coming together. You’re going to eat well. You’re going to party hard. But mainly it’s the hospitality. You’re just going to feel welcomed. People are friendly and that’s going to make you want to come back for sure.”
