Caribbean Court Of Justice Presidential Ceremony

Following 48 years of legal service, President of the Caribbean Court of Justice, Adrian Saunders, will retire from the position he served for the past two decades.

During a special sitting of the court on Tuesday, Justice Saunders credited the public’s trust in the court in maintaining its high standard. He has served within the Caribbean for over three decades as a legal advocate.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Chief Justice Ivor Archie described the CCJ President’s years of service as instrumental in shaping the judicial system regionally.

Incoming CCJ President Winston Anderson shared his personal relationship with Justice Saunders has made an impact personally and professionally.

Justice Saunders has also been a guiding force for Guyana’s judiciary, according to Guyana’s Chief Justice, Roxanne George-Wiltshire.

Visibly overwhelmed with emotion, Justice Saunders reflected on his years of service. He particularly spoke on the work of the CCJ, noting that the public’s trust in the high standard of judgements delivered has maintained the integrity of the court.

Justice Saunders will retire from his position in July 2025; Justice Winston Anderson will then be officially appointed as President of the CCJ.
