The U.S. Navy Admiral Alvin Holsey, Commander of U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), is in Trinidad and Tobago to conduct key leader engagements in Port of Spain and to attend the 2024 Caribbean Nations Security Conference (CANSEC).
Admiral Holsey will meet with Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley to discuss regional security efforts and advance security cooperation initiatives.
He will join Chief of Defence Staff, Air Vice Marshall Darryl Daniel in co-hosting CANSEC. Regional collaboration is the goal where defense and security leaders from the Caribbean will exchange ideas, experiences, and perspectives on regional collaborative efforts to address security challenges in the 21st century.
This visit marks the first regional security conference for the Admiral since assuming command of SOUTH-COM from General Laura Richardson on November 7.
CANSEC is sponsored annually by SOUTH-COM. It was last hosted by Trinidad and Tobago in 2018.
