The Caribbean Industrial Research Institute (CARIRI) has confirmed that it experienced a cyber threat to its IT network on Monday, September 8th, 2025.
According to a statement from the Institute, immediate action was taken by its internal incident response team to contain the threat and minimise access to company data.
“Quarantine measures were implemented to isolate critical assets and protect IT resources. Detailed assessments have confirmed minimal impact to the Institute’s IT systems and data, which are being carefully restored to normal working levels.”
CARIRI also stated that it engaged the Trinidad and Tobago Cyber Security Incident Response Team (TT-CSIRT), operating under the Ministry of Homeland Security, to provide additional support and strengthen its cybersecurity operations.
The Institute condemned the attack, referring to cyberattacks as a global problem, and emphasised its commitment to protecting digital assets. The notice reassured stakeholders that cybersecurity remains a top priority.
