Carnival 2026 Draws Thousands, NCC Considers Expanding Flava Village

Chairman of the National Carnival Commission, Peter Kanhai, says the NCC feels vindicated, given the overwhelming response to the Carnival 2026 product.

He said consideration is now being given to making new initiatives like the Flava Village a year-round offering, with vendors reportedly seeing significant financial gains and patrons consistently showing up to partake in it.

Mr. Kanhai noted that at the Flava Village, the number of people on any given day is between four and five thousand.

“The two villages, the John Cupid, which is now located in the area commonly known as The Greens, which is west of the North Stand, that village is oversubscribed. In fact, on Friday night the police had to briefly take control of the gate in order to have proper crowd control. But yes, I think the National Carnival Commission can feel very vindicated given the turnout at these venues every night since they were opened.”
