Carnival: Beyond The Road – I Love Choka Celebrates 10 Years

A massive crowd showed up at the Centre of Excellence in Macoya over the weekend for the annual ‘I Love Choka’ Carnival Fete.

The show featured a high-energy lineup of performers, including Ravi B, Yung Bredda, Savita Singh, Full Blown and Swappi, capped by a much-anticipated performance from Soca King Machel Montano. He took over the stage at around 3:30am on Sunday with his song ‘Encore,’ much to the delight of those in attendance.

I Love Choka is in its 10th year, and promoter Massive Tank said Machel was the surprise performer for this special occasion.

“Once you hear I Love Choka, we must have surprises to make sure entertainment stays at the highest level.”

Saleem Beharry, known as Master Saleem, dropped some hits on stage during the early hours of the night. He told TTT News that he had been a part of the event since its inception.

“I’ve seen Choka move from, you know the 1,000, 2,000, 3,000, and now I think we have probably about 10,000 here at least, and it really shows that the promoter is doing something good, that it keeps bringing the people back over and over and over.”

Also performing was Soca star Swappi, who endorsed the event.

“Ten years, you know, it’s a nicer decade, and within the decade, I was part of that decade when I came out with ‘Party Start.’ And even before that, you know, so I must give kudos to Tank and the whole team and everybody that has been putting Choka together over.”
