Member of Parliament for Caroni Central, Dr. David Lee, says residents can expect improvements to their water supply and local infrastructure in the coming months.
Speaking to TTT News, he said longstanding water issues affecting the constituency are now being addressed following discussions with the Minister of Public Utilities, Barry Padarath.
He revealed that the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) is preparing to implement new measures aimed at easing water supply challenges that residents have faced for over a decade.
“He has given me, shared some exciting news about water supply for the people of Caroni Central, some new things that WASA is doing that would alleviate a lot of the problems we have been having over the last ten years.”
Mr. Lee also noted that while awaiting broader government intervention, the constituency is taking proactive steps to address minor infrastructure concerns, particularly road paving and patching.
He said this effort is being undertaken in collaboration with local councillors and the Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo Regional Corporation, with hopeful support from private donors.
“As far as the infrastructure is concerned, I have worked with the councillors in this community alongside the Corporation of Couva and we are looking for donors to give us some material and hot mix, and the Couva Corporation will provide the labour.”
The MP said these initiatives are expected to bring much-needed relief to residents and improve overall conditions in the short term, until the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure prepares to provide further assistance.
