Fifteen-time Grammy Award-winning gospel artiste CeCe Winans is coming to Trinidad as part of the Caribbean leg of her More Than This world tour.
Successfully arranging the concert in Trinidad has been a project spanning two years through the Gates Praise Gospel Group, which first made contact with Ms. Winans’ management in 2023.
Pastor Luke Quamina of the First Church of the Open Bible said that aside from having the ability to cover the funding necessary to pay the artiste, other factors also came into play.
“One of the things that they try to prevent is when an organisation does not have the capacity, not just money, because it’s how they’re treated, the excellence of this, you know, the people involved, the service from the plane, the security of the nation. There are some things that can affect artists coming to a space, even though there’s a great need. So, one of the things we have to improve on, especially in managing – and we’re not the only ones who entertain artistes – is to make sure that we have proper management.”
Pastor Quamina added that having this capacity opens the door to attract artistes of high calibre, which can in turn produce far-reaching benefits outside of a concert.
“We have to expand our vision and understand that there are ties to tourism. There are ties to business. There are ties to opening up relationships for local artistes to now, bridge the gap, to now go to the US, it’s not just bringing people here. It’s what established relationships can we have that takes our talent abroad.”
The Gates Praise Gospel Group and several other local gospel music artistes will also perform at the concert, which will be held at the Queen’s Park Oval.
