Chaguanas Borough Corporation Plans Early Lighting Of Felicity For Divali

While thousands of visitors are expected to flock to Felicity on Divali night to experience its renowned display of deyas and festive lights, Chaguanas Mayor Faaiq Mohammed says this year’s celebrations could begin even earlier.

Speaking to TTT News, he said the Chaguanas Borough Corporation is working with residents of Felicity to illuminate the community ahead of Divali, giving visitors more time to enjoy one of the country’s most popular Festival of Lights attractions.

He said the initiative reflects the municipality’s commitment to celebrating the cultural and religious diversity that defines Trinidad and Tobago.

“Chaguanas, we are a hub for all sorts of events, especially religious events. I would say we are diverse like that in Chaguanas. If you were to just watch Chaguanas alone, we are a good representation of Trinidad and Tobago. We have one of the biggest celebrations in Chaguanas, especially in Felicity. We have plans right now, our Corporation is working together with the villagers to help light up the streets of Felicity. We’re trying to see if we could do it by next week Monday, have it lit. So, you all don’t have to rush on one day, that’s Divali night alone, to see the lights. We’re going to try to have it up earlier so everyone can enjoy the festivities.”
