The Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs has announced the appointment of Mr. Chandradath Singh as High Commissioner-designate of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to India.
The Honourable Sean Sobers, M.P., Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs presented the Instrument of Appointment on behalf of the Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar, S.C., Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, to High Commissioner-designate Singh, during a brief ceremony held on 8th October, at the Ministry’s headquarters.

Mr Chandradath Singh’s diplomatic career spans more than four decades with senior postings across Asia and beyond, including Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the People’s Republic of China with multi‑country accreditation and a prior tenure as High Commissioner to India with regional accreditations. His overseas service also includes roles as Consul General in Miami, First Secretary in Canada and Second Secretary in the United Kingdom, complemented by leadership positions within the Ministry such as Chief of Protocol, Director of Consular Affairs, Director of Information, Culture and Conference Services, Head of Chancery and Acting High Commissioner in India.
Mr Singh combines his diplomatic experience with public‑sector project work, notably as Senior Special Projects Coordinator for the City of Lauderhill and Broward County where he contributed to the construction and ICC accreditation of the USA’s first international cricket stadium. He is a Commonwealth Scholar with a B.A. Hons in History and has postgraduate training in International Relations and specialised courses in international law, diplomacy and negotiation from institutions in Trinidad and Tobago, Canada, India and the United States; he has also served as Trinidad and Tobago’s UNESCO Board Representative and held membership roles in several diplomatic, cultural and trade organisations.
