Charlotteville Library Celebrates 70 Years Of Community, Culture And Learning

For seventy years, the Charlotteville Branch Library has stood as a vital pillar of learning, storytelling, and community connection in one of Tobago’s most scenic villages. From its establishment in 1956 through to the digital era of 2026, the library has continued to evolve while preserving its role as a cultural and educational sanctuary for residents of all ages.

As the branch marks its platinum 70th anniversary, celebrations are set to culminate in a beachfront bonfire on Monday, May 11th, highlighting the village’s rich heritage and community spirit. Librarian in Charge Ms Naya Dick joins Virmala to reflect on the library’s enduring legacy, its impact beyond books, and its continued importance as a hub for education, culture, and local identity.
