An elderly man of Chatham, South Trinidad was burnt to death on Wednesday morning.
The victim has been identified as Ezekiel Juba, who was said to be in his late 70s.
According to reports, Juba was alone at his Beach Road, Chatham Road home at the time of the incident. His wife is said to be abroad visiting family.
The fire is estimated to have started between 1am and 2am. Officers from the Point Fortin Fire Station responded but when they arrived the house was already gutted. The blaze also damaged a vehicle which was parked in the garage.
Relatives at the scene of the blaze declined to speak with the media.
Juba, a businessman, was said to be an active member of the Chatham community.
