The government’s first bill laid in the parliament was passed late on Friday night with amendments.
Minister of Health, Dr. Lackram Bodoe initially proposed two amendments to the Act to Amend the Children’s Life Fund
Clause 3 of the Bill was amended by deleting the words “life threatening illnesses” and substituting the words “life limiting illnesses.”
Prime Minister, Kamla Persad-Bissessar said the changes gives more families a chance to access the fund. She shared excerpts of a newspaper article where a father spoke about his child’s death as the family didn’t receive the grant in time.
