Classes Suspended At Rousillac Hindu Primary: Education Ministry Acts On Rodent Infestation

Classes have been suspended at the Rousillac Hindu Primary School.

Minister of Education, Dr. Michael Dowlath, gave the update while responding to an urgent question in Parliament on Friday. He said the Ministry of Education is working in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the Siparia Regional Corporation, and other relevant stakeholders to sanitise and treat the school for a rodent infestation.

“I have directed the immediate closure of the Rousillac Hindu Primary School to allow for comprehensive treatment of the premises. An intense programme of sanitisation and baiting has already been arranged. This programme will include deep cleaning, replacement of traps and baits, sealing of entry points, and monitoring to ensure the complete elimination of rodents.”

Minister Dowlath assured that once the sanitisation and treatment exercise is completed, classes will resume in the shortest possible time.

The school is currently being housed at the Rousillac Community Centre after construction of the new school was left incomplete in 2015.
