Commissioner of Police Allister Guevarro is leading a Trinidad and Tobago delegation to the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Annual Conference and Exposition 2026, being held in Orlando, Florida, from the 23rd to 28th October 2026.

The delegation includes Director of the Strategic Services Agency, Ms Alicia Henry, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Criminal Intelligence, Mr Andy Tewarie, and representatives of the Embassy of the United States of America in Trinidad and Tobago, Mr Randell Smith and Ms Kelley Whitson.

The IACP Annual Conference and Exposition is recognised as the largest law enforcement gathering in the world, bringing together more than 16,000 public safety professionals, including police chiefs, commissioners, sheriffs, senior law enforcement executives, command staff, government officials, security practitioners, academics, and industry partners.

Participants represent more than 100 countries, providing a unique platform for international collaboration, professional development, and the exchange of best practices in modern policing.

During the conference, delegates will participate in a comprehensive programme of training workshops, strategic discussions, leadership forums, and networking engagements focused on some of the most pressing issues confronting law enforcement agencies worldwide.

Key topics include transnational organised crime, violent crime reduction strategies, intelligence-led policing, counterterrorism, cybercrime investigations, emerging technologies in policing, artificial intelligence, drone applications, communications technology, officer wellness, leadership development, community policing, public safety innovation, and crime prevention initiatives.

Commissioner Guevarro noted that participation in the conference provides an important opportunity for Trinidad and Tobago’s law enforcement and security agencies to strengthen relationships with international partners, explore innovative policing strategies, and identify emerging technologies and practices that can enhance national security and public safety.

The attendance of the Trinidad and Tobago delegation has been sponsored by the United States Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago,
underscoring the longstanding and productive partnership between the United States and local law enforcement agencies.

The Commissioner stated that the sponsorship reflects the shared commitment of both countries to combating transnational crime,
enhancing institutional capacity, and promoting safer communities through collaboration, training, and the exchange of expertise.

The Trinidad and Tobago delegation is expected to use the knowledge, experiences, and partnerships gained at the conference to support ongoing efforts aimed at strengthening law enforcement capabilities, improving operational effectiveness, and advancing public safety throughout the country.
