Commissioner of Police Allister Guevarro paid a courtesy call on THA Chief Secretary Farley Augustine to discuss ongoing security measures for Tobago.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary emphasised the proactive approach taken to strengthen law enforcement, including the establishment of temporary policing units in key hotspots and the utilisation of enhanced intelligence support to inform operations. He also noted that the theft of boats and boat engines remains a major concern for the island’s coastal communities. The topic of a Coastal and Riverine Branch presence in Tobago, to further secure the island’s maritime space, including areas like the Buccoo Reef Marine Park, was also raised.
The THA reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the TTPS to remain proactive and responsive to emerging security challenges. The Commissioner commended the encouraging trends in current crime statistics, while emphasising the need for continued vigilance and strategic collaboration.
Also in attendance was THA Chief Administrator Mrs. Denese Toby-Quashie.
