Contraband Suspected Of Being Delivered By Drone Confiscated At Maximum Security Prison

The Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service (TTPrS) continues to intensify its efforts to prevent the introduction of prohibited items into its facilities, following the confiscation of a package suspected to have been delivered by drone at the Maximum Security Prison.

On Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at approximately 5:50 a.m., the package was discovered and confiscated along the outer perimeter of the Maximum Security Prison. The package contained ten (10) packs of Lucky Strike cigarettes and one (1) cellular phone.

Investigations are ongoing, with the assistance of external law enforcement agencies, to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify those responsible.

The TTPrS recognises that the use of emerging technologies, including drones, presents evolving security challenges in preventing the introduction of contraband into correctional facilities. Accordingly, the Service remains committed to strengthening its security measures, enhancing intelligence-led operations, and collaborating with law enforcement partners to detect and disrupt attempts to introduce prohibited items into prisons.

The Prison Service reiterates its resolute commitment to maintaining secure correctional facilities and disrupting the networks and individuals seeking to undermine prison security through the introduction of contraband.
