CoP Guevarro Praises Nine Promoted Officers For Their ‘Resilience’

Commissioner of Police Allister Guevarro has recognised the unwavering resilience of nine officers, who were promoted today, saying that they had been waiting for this moment to come for a long time and had not remained idle while doing so.

He was speaking at a Promotion Ceremony, titled ‘Climbing Higher, Serving Stronger’, held at the Police Administration Building, Port of Spain, on Friday 29th August, 2025, where he commended them for remaining disciplined and resolved in their duties.

The officers promoted were:
– Senior Superintendent of Police, Curtis Simmons
– Senior Superintendent of Police, Harripersad Ramnarine
– Assistant Superintendent of Police, Jurneal Alexis
– Sergeant of Police, Mukesh Ragoobir
– Sergeant of Police, Curtis Applewhite
– Sergeant of Police, Joel Barton
– Corporal of Police, Ah-Keel Alexander
– Corporal of Police, Cliff Legendre
– Bandsman II, Joseph Ramkissoon

Commissioner Guevarro said, “Promotion in the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is not a reward, but responsibility. It is not a pat on the back, but a call to stand taller, speak clearer and lead with a sharper purpose. You now carry the expectations of those you command, the scrutiny of those you serve and the legacy of those who came before you. This ceremony is a statement, that merit still matters, that patience, professionalism and principled conduct are not forgotten. You are here because you earned your promotion, through the long road of service and not through shortcuts.”

The Commissioner also noted that the promotions are a signal that the TTPS is evolving and modernising and investing in the future of the organisation, by the entrusting officers with the responsibility to lead.”

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Police ‘Administration’ Natasha George, reminded the officers to recall and remember their Oaths of Office every day and to always execute their duties with professionalism and objectivity.

Bringing greetings from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Social and Welfare Association, President, ASP Gideon Dickson, noted that the officers being promoted, represented a body of experience and a wealth of knowledge and praised the Executive for continuing to motivate officers, especially on the eve of Independence Day.

And, newly promoted Senior Superintendent of Police, Curtis Simmons, urged his fellow officers to never let their guard down and to always remember that they represent the TTPS. He reminded them to always maintain their integrity on the job and to continuously enhance their leadership skills.

Also in attendance at the ceremony were Deputy Commissioner of Police, Junior Benjamin, Assistant Commissioner of Police Terrance Pierre and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Michael Pierre.

Superintendent of Police Lucien Ferguson chaired the event.
