The Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries has confirmed that a crane operator was safely rescued and taken ashore for medical assessment and treatment following an incident during lifting operations at Perenco’s Samaan Alpha offshore platform on Wednesday evening.
A statement from the Ministry on Thursday said Perenco notified it of the incident on Wednesday October 14th, 2026, confirming that no other personnel on site were affected.
Perenco is making arrangements to safely secure and recover the affected crane equipment and will investigate the cause of the incident.
The Ministry said it remains in close contact with the company and will continue to monitor developments, ensuring that appropriate follow-up actions are taken in keeping with applicable safety and regulatory requirements.
