Crime: 21 Arrested During ‘Summer Slam’ Operation In The Southern Division

A ‘Summer Slam’ Operation conducted in the Southern Division yesterday led to the arrest of 21 persons and the issuing of 65 Fixed Penalty Notices, as officers ramped up their State of Emergency exercises.

The operation, conducted between 4am and 1pm on Tuesday August 12th 2025, was coordinated by DCP Benjamin, ACP Mystar, Snr. Supt. Simon and supervised by Supt. Jaikaran, ASP Ramsaran, ASP Ramlogan, ASP Morales, Insp. Maharaj and Insp. Wilkinson, and included officers of the National Operations Task Force, the Guard and Emergency Branch, the Canine Branch, Licensing Officers, and the Southern Division.

During the exercises, two roadblocks were conducted and a total of six houses were searched in relation to firearm, robbery and narcotics-related offences in the Division.

Three suspects of La Romaine were arrested for possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition, and one revolver and three rounds of ammunition were seized.

Three other suspects were held for possession of cannabis, while the remaining 15 suspects were held for various offences including motor vehicle larceny, malicious wounding, attempted murder, sexual touching and for outstanding warrants.

Meanwhile, in the Western Division, Task Force officers conducted an exercise in the St. James district between 8pm and 10pm yesterday.

During the exercise, officers proceeded to the corner of Community Lane and Belle Vue Road, where they arrested a 21-year-old suspect who was found to be in possession of a pistol loaded with a magazine containing seven rounds of ammunition.

The exercise was sanctioned by Snr. Supt. Williams, Supt. Gyan and spearheaded by Sgt. Dominique.

Investigations are ongoing into all of the above matters.
