Crime: Two Car Dealers Arrested, Five Stolen Vehicles Recovered During Police Exercises

An exercise conducted in the Beverly Hills and Sea Lots areas led to the discovery of a firearm and ammunition and the arrest of two car dealers and the recovery of five stolen vehicles in Diego Martin area yesterday.

On Monday 11th August, 2025, at approximately 12:15pm, acting on intelligence, officers proceeded to Concession Drive, Sea Lots, where a meticulous search of the nearby dump was conducted. During the search, officers discovered a brown metal and wooden firearm, fitted with a magazine containing eighteen (18) rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, hidden beneath a concrete sink.

This operation was spearheaded by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Martin, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Hazel, and coordinated by Senior Superintendent Sooker, Superintendent Ramsook, and Assistant Superintendent Singh.

In a separate incident, an intelligence-led operation conducted by officers of the Stolen Vehicles Squad resulted in the seizure of five (5) tampered motor vehicles and the detention of two (2) suspects, during coordinated efforts across the Northern and Western Divisions on the same day.

Officers visited a foreign used car parts business located at Good Session Drive, Patna Village, Diego Martin, where several vehicles were examined in the presence of the business owner and his son, both used car dealers.

The following vehicles were found with tampered chassis and/or engine alphanumerics: White Kia K2700, White Hyundai H100, Dark Grey BMW, White Hyundai Elantra, White Nissan Tiida.

Further checks revealed that the white Hyundai Elantra was previously reported stolen in the St. Margaret’s Police District, between 11:30 p.m. on 8th May, 2025 and 5:00 a.m. on 9th May, 2025.

Both men were informed of the findings and detained pending further investigations. The vehicles were seized and lodged for safekeeping.

The operation was spearheaded by Senior Superintendent Maharaj, Superintendent Pariman, and Assistant Superintendent Narine. It was directly supervised by Inspector Lazarus and Sergeant Khan.

Enquiries are continuing by officers of the Stolen Vehicles Squad.
