Five months after losing her daughter to gun violence, Shahna Clement Muhammad is promoting peaceful initiatives, through the J’layna Armstrong.
The NGO recently held its 5k: Miles for Our Angel at the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port of Spain.
Crowns not casualties…
That was the slogan Youngsters sported on pink shirts at the recent Miles For Our Angel Run, in memory of J’Layna Armstrong.
J’Layna’s life was cut short following a shooting incident on April 19th.
Out of the tragedy came the non-profit, The Jlayna Armstrong Foundation, where her tribe is creating initiatives to foster peace among young people.
The 5K event kicked off with a lively aerobics session, as participants, including Moko Jumbies, got moving in a celebration that reflected J’layna’s passion for culture.
Shortly after adults and youngsters embarked on the race, and upon successfully completing they received their medals which captured an infectious smile.
