Dalian Port Trade Link

One of China’s major trade gateways lies in the north-east province of Liaoning- The Dalian Port.
As global trade shifts and adapts to new demands, the port plays a key role in connecting China to international markets.

Located on the Yellow Sea coast in northeast China, Dalian Port is a vital logistics hub in the country’s expansive maritime network.

It handles a range of cargo including automobiles, containers, and energy resources.

Vice Director of the Public Relations office of the Liaoning Port Group Liu Xianfeng said the port continues to expand its international reach while adopting smarter and greener technologies to improve efficiency.

“We are building a green port, a smart port. One of the functions to build this green port is to reduce the carbon dioxide emission. Upon completion of this port, I believe the carbon dioxide emission will be down by 22 percent.”

Mr. Lui said the transformation of the port also supports China’s Belt and Road Initiative, which aims to improve connectivity and cooperation on a transcontinental scale.

“The practice to transport some imported cargoes and vehicles from Japan and South Korea via this port and we will transport this by train to the other places of the world as well as we transport some cargoes from the other local and southern cities of China as well as to other East Asian countries is actually a practice to implement the Belt and Road Initiative.”

According to a report by China Daily, in 2024 the port enhanced its efficiency with the integration of 5G-enabled unmanned container trucks, automated rail-mounted gantry cranes and remote-controlled quay cranes.

With its strategic location and growing capacity, Dalian Port reflects China’s broader ambition to strengthen global connectivity — both economically and logistically.
