Twenty-five-year-old Daniel Rasheed has been appointed as a temporary Government Senator.
This appointment makes Mr. Rasheed the youngest individual to serve in this capacity during this session of Parliament.
Mr. Rasheed was administered the Oath of Office as the first order of business in the Upper House on Friday. He replaces Minister of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries Ravi Ratiram, who is out of the country.
Mr. Rasheed currently holds the position of Chairman of the United National Congress National Youth Arm and is a member of the teaching staff at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine campus.
He was also Chief Whip in the Youth Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago.
