Gold Commander for Carnival 2026, Deputy Commissioner of Police Suzette Martin, said festivities were effectively managed and crime was minimised.
She shared statistics at a TTPS Press Briefing on Friday.
“Our consolidated statistics at this time reflect the following: 19 serious crimes reported, 25 persons arrested, one firearm recovered with five rounds of ammunition, 908 patrols conducted, 135 coordinated operations and targeted exercises.”
DCP Martin noted that the seizure of a weapon and ammunition showed the proactive actions of the officers on patrol.
She commended her officers for their hard work during the season.
“241 fixed penalty notices issued, four serious road traffic accidents, including two fatalities, 397 vehicles removed in Port of Spain to maintain traffic flow and emergency access, 25.38 grammes of narcotics seized.”
