Two more people have died due to complications associated with dengue fever.
The Ministry of Health, in its latest public epidemiological update on dengue cases within the country, confirms there are 1,416 laboratory confirmed cases of dengue fever and 18 laboratory confirmed deaths.
The Ministry says as of September 19th, 2024, a total of 1,145 Yellow Fever Notices have been issued to property owners or occupiers, directing them to clean up their surroundings. It says of this number, 64 property owners or occupiers have, thus far, been identified for the consideration/institution of legal proceedings for non-compliance.
The public is reminded that dengue fever may be spread by the bite of an infected Aedes Aegypti mosquito. Symptoms appear within 5-6 days of being bitten, last for 1-2 weeks and can include fever, headaches, pain behind eyes, muscle and joint pains, skin rash, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhoea.
