Soca superstar Destra Garcia can certainly add Motivational Speaker to her portfolio as she shared intimate details of her personal life in the hopes of inspiring other women at a Women’s Day Empowerment Workshop on the weekend.
The Soca artiste, who proudly hails from Laventille and also speaks three languages, was one of the women sharing at the Belmont Community Centre.
But the Featured Guest Speaker admitted that dreaming isn’t enough. She advised people to set a goal and make a plan and even if things don’t exactly go according to plan, she urged them not to be negative as negativity breeds negativity.
She used the example being unable to attain an American VISA when big international labels, like Epic and Sony Records, showed interest in signing the local songstress. But she persisted and encouraged others likewise.
