In celebration of its 19th Anniversary in Trinidad and Tobago, Digicel has announced the removal of its $3 over-the-counter payment fee, effective immediately. This decision reaffirms the company’s commitment to putting customers first and delivering the best experience.
Following its launch on April 06th 2006, Digicel revolutionised the local telecommunications landscape by breaking the monopoly of the indigenous telecommunications provider and making mobile connectivity more affordable and within reach of the average person. Digicel’s entry empowered customers with more affordable mobile handsets, lower voice and data rates, 24-7 customer service, and better options for roaming and Pay As You Go (PAYGO) rates.
“For 19 years, Digicel has been dedicated to serving the people of Trinidad and Tobago, and today we re-ignite our drive toward improving our customer service and satisfaction,” said Pieter Verkade, new CEO of Digicel Trinidad and Tobago.

The elimination of the fee, which was implemented in December 2022 under the company’s Digital Operator umbrella, is part of Digicel’s broader strategy to empower customers and provide superior value. Other elements of this new strategy will be rolled out in the coming months.
