Amid Friday’s heavy downpour and fast-rising waters, a man was seen clinging to a rope for dear life, caught in the raging current of the East Dry River near Riverside Plaza in Port of Spain.
The video shows him struggling against the force of the water, gripping the rope as onlookers and emergency responders attempted to reach him.
Flash flooding overwhelmed parts of the capital following intense rainfall, transforming the usually calm river channel into a dangerous torrent.
Up to late Friday, there was no official word on the man’s condition, but TTT News understands that he was safely rescued.
