Education Ministry Boosts School Security Following Malick Intrusion

The Ministry of Education is strengthening security infrastructure at Malick Secondary School following an intrusion onto the compound on July 6th. An investigation is underway to determine how a group of unidentified individuals unlawfully entered the school compound and accosted two security officers.

The Ministry of Education is working closely with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), MTS Security Services and other relevant authorities to support the ongoing investigations.

In the interim, the Ministry says it will make improvements to perimeter fencing, on-site lighting, and will undertake a review of patrol protocols and procedures.

Commenting on the situation, Minister of Education Dr. Michael Dowlath said the Ministry continues to work collaboratively with all security service providers and encourages the ongoing exercise of vigilance in safeguarding school compounds.
