Certificates of Environmental Clearance have been issued for two of EOG Resources’ offshore gas wells by the Environmental Management Agency (EMA).
TG1 and TG2, located within the NCMA 4(a) Unlimited Block, off the Northern Coast of Trinidad, are exploration gas wells.
The approvals are being described as a significant milestone by the EMA, as it is the first CEC issued under the newly appointed Board of Directors for the oil and gas sector.
The application for the CEC, which was submitted to the EMA on March 5th, 2025, underwent a “comprehensive” review process that included several requests for further information and clarification, as well as an extensive technical assessment of the proposed drilling activity.
The EMA indicated that following its evaluation of the information from EOG, the Authority has determined that an Environmental Impact Assessment is not required for the proposed activity.
