Energy Minister Confirms Progress On ExxonMobil Ultra-Deepwater Exploration

Energy Minister Dr. Roodal Moonilal has confirmed that the ultra-deepwater exploration programme involving ExxonMobil has advanced “far ahead of schedule.”

Speaking during Thursday’s Post-Cabinet Media Briefing, he revealed that the seismic vessel, Amazon Warrior, is now docked in T&T and preparing to begin a five-month 3D seismic survey.

He said the vessel is set to depart Chaguaramas on Sunday and will begin mapping the offshore territory covered by the Production Sharing Contract signed with ExxonMobil in August 2025.

“You may be aware that the vessel Amazon Warrior, the vessel that will undertake the seismic scientific exploration and collect the seismic data over the ultra-deep water block, is in Trinidad and Tobago waters and will depart on Sunday from Chaguaramas to begin its work. They expect to be on the east coast marine area to conduct 3D seismic survey across the deepwater block that has been contracted with Exxon.”
