Minister in the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries, Ernesto Kesar met with executives from Caribbean Gas Chemical Limited on Thursday to discuss opportunities for expanding production and strengthening the country’s petrochemical industry.
The meeting, held at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries’ headquarters at the International Waterfront Centre, included Acting Permanent Secretary Karinsa Tulsie and Chemical Engineer Anushka Benny alongside CGCL leadership.
Minister Kesar emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting growth and stability in Trinidad and Tobago’s petrochemical sector. Discussions centered on CGCL’s current operations, strategies to increase production capacity and economic efficiency, and methods to enhance value creation for the national economy.
Caribbean Gas Chemical Limited operates as a joint venture between Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company Inc., Mitsubishi Corporation, local conglomerate Massy Holdings Ltd., and the National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited.
The minister expressed appreciation for CGCL’s contributions to the economy and stressed the importance of collaboration between government and private sector partners to maintain competitiveness in the global energy market.
Both parties agreed to maintain ongoing dialogue and work together toward shared objectives for the sector’s development.
The meeting reflects the government’s continued focus on leveraging Trinidad and Tobago’s energy resources to drive economic growth through strategic partnerships with industry stakeholders.
