EPIC Programme Invests $1 Million In Sport, Technology, And Sustainability Initiatives

Ten organisations are ready to leave their mark on communities across the country. This move was made possible through a million-dollar partnership between The Digicel Foundation and Shell Trinidad, following the launch of the 2025/2026 cycle of the Extraordinary Project Impacting Communities (EPIC) Programme.

The partnership, aimed at impacting communities, will focus on sport, digitalisation, and environmental sustainability.

Chair of the Digicel Foundation Board, Desha Clifford, stated: “The response we got was overwhelming. We got a huge number of applications from organisations across the country. It was one of the toughest jobs we’ve had in quite a few years, and each idea was unique. They brought forward ideas rooted in hope, ingenuity, and a deep desire to uplift their communities, and from those submissions, obviously, we can’t award something to everyone; we had to choose twenty groups, and they advanced to the pitch stage.”

The 2025 cohort fell under three categories:

Environmental Sustainability: SEWA TT, the Scouts Association of Trinidad and Tobago, and Sisters Uplifting Sisters.

Sport for Development: The Fyzabad United Football Club, and Southern Muslim Institute for Learning and Enrichment (SMILE).

Technology and Digitalisation: Child Line, The Chest and Heart Association of Trinidad and Tobago, The Bovell Cancer Diabetes Foundation, The Community Unity After School Centre, and the Barataria Anglican Primary School.

Managing Counsel at Shell Trinidad, Shaista Ali, stated: “What makes EPIC truly extraordinary is the hope that it brings. Hope that real change is possible, hope that no idea is too small, that age, background, or experience doesn’t determine your impact: your willingness does. We’ve seen teenagers create solutions that shift mindsets, and community elders bring decades of wisdom into brand-new spaces. That’s the beauty of this programme. Once you step forward, you become part of the change.”

Shell and The Digicel Foundation have signed a three-year partnership, representing a joint investment of TT$3.8 million into the EPIC Programme.
