The European Film Festival of Trinidad and Tobago is marking a major milestone this year, celebrating its 30th anniversary.
The festival was officially launched on Tuesday evening at IMAX CinemaOne.
Ambassador of the European Union to Trinidad and Tobago, Cécile Tassin, says this year’s festival features nine films from nine different countries, offering audiences a diverse cinematic experience.
She also noted that the programme will include a documentary focusing on Ukraine.
“Each bringing its own voice, perspective, and artistic sensibility. Together, they offer a remarkable journey across Europe’s cultures, histories, and imaginations. Our selection spans a wide range of genres and themes, from gripping thrillers to historical narratives, from intimate family stories to powerful social reflections, and to the hopes and aspirations of young people shaping their future.”
Ambassador Tassin also revealed that a junior film festival will be held simultaneously, targeting secondary school students.
“There will be screenings of Spanish and French movies that will offer them both cultural discovery and linguistic exposure. They will also benefit from a workshop on responsible filmmaking, encouraging the next generation to reflect on the impact and responsibility of storytelling.”
