The World Mission Society Church of God embarked on a Global Hope Challenge promoting environmental sustainability and conservation.
On Sunday, the group participated in a ‘plastic footprint removal campaign’ through a beach clean-up. This, in honour of World Environment Day and World Oceans Day, celebrated annually in June.
Event and Public Relations Representative, Cherese Samuel, explained more: “This campaign, Global Hope Challenge Erasing Plastic Footprints, aims towards reduction of daily plastic use since, as we know, plastic consumption is very damaging to the environment because plastic itself does not decay, and so our campaign hopes to raise awareness on the effects of plastics, including pollution and also harm to humans, wild and marine life, so through this campaign we hope to encourage everyone to take part in the use of plastic to make the earth a cleaner and safer place.”
The Church has been raising awareness through various campaigns in hopes of making Trinidad and Tobago much cleaner and safer. It is part of a broader mission to unite people around the world in a shared goal of protecting the environment.
