Officers of the Sangre Grande Criminal Investigations Department (CID), together with members of the Eastern Division Task Force (EDTF), conducted an intelligence-led operation in the Sangre Grande district, which resulted in the discovery of an illegal firearm and ammunition on Tuesday October 14th, 2025.
The exercise, conducted between the hours of 1PM and 5PM, was coordinated by Senior Superintendent Paponette, Superintendent Beharry, and ASP Russel, and supervised by Inspector Harper, Corporal Maharaj, and Corporal Mahadeo.
Following intelligence information, officers proceeded to a forested area along Upper Cunapo Road, Coalmine, Sangre Grande. A search of the area led to the recovery of one Smith & Wesson revolver and three rounds of .38 Special ammunition.
Crime Scene Investigation personnel, Cpl Daniel, processed the scene, and the items were photographed and secured as evidence.
Investigations are continuing.
