Firearms And Ammunition Seized During Police Operation In Moruga

Police officers attached to the Moruga Police Station successfully recovered two firearms and a quantity of ammunition during an anti-crime exercise conducted under Operation Trident on Sunday November 9th, 2025.

The exercise, which took place between 10am and 2pm, was coordinated by Snr. Supt. Garvin Simon, Supt. Jaikaran, Supt. Bridglal, ASPs Ramlogan, Ramsaran, and Sookdeo, and Insp. Ragbir. The operation was directly supervised by Cpl Goolcharan, and involved several officers assigned to the Moruga Police District.

At approximately 9am, acting on intelligence information received, officers proceeded to La Fortune, Moruga, where they conducted a search in a bushy area located on the southern side of the roadway. There, officers discovered two shotguns, fifteen rounds of 16-gauge cartridges, and twelve rounds of 12-gauge cartridges concealed in a blue plastic bag.

The firearms and ammunition were seized and taken to the police station. Investigations are continuing, led by PC Balkaran.
