Five suspects were arrested and two firearms and quantities of ammunition and narcotics seized during ongoing State of Emergency Operations conducted across the country this week.
In the Tobago Division, officers of the Gang and Intelligence Unit conducted an exercise between 3:15pm and 6pm on Tuesday September 2nd, 2025, during which they proceeded to a hotel at Arnos Vale.
A search of the compound was conducted which resulted in the discovery of one AR-15 rifle loaded with a magazine containing two rounds of ammunition.
Meanwhile, one 53-year-old of Moriah was arrested in connection with a report of rape by the officers in the same exercise.
In the Bamboo Settlement #2 district, officers conducted an exercise yesterday afternoon which resulted in the interception of a motor vehicle with three occupants, including a Spanish-speaking national.
A search resulted in the officers finding one revolver loaded with two rounds of ammunition in the possession of the Spanish-speaking national.
The 38-year-old suspect was arrested in connection with the find.
In the Eastern Division, Task Force officers, with the assistance of the Canine Unit, carried out a State of Emergency Operation in the Sangre Grande district between 2am and 5am, today, Thursday September 4th, 2025.
During the exercise two suspects were arrested: a 37-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman for possession of quantities of cannabis and ammunition.
And in the Central Division, officers arrested a 27-year-old woman for possession of a quantity of cannabis and TT$24,900 in cash.
The exercise, coordinated by Supt. Glodon and ASP Hernandez, was conducted by officers of the Cunupia CID, Guard and Emergency Branch, Canine Unit and the Cunupia Police Station.
Investigations are ongoing into all of the above matters.
