As part of their Annual Mission Week, Flow Trinidad and Tobago mobilised 100 of its employees to give back to the homeless and those in need on Tuesday.
The company partnered with Love All Serve All Soup Kitchen, Kids in Need of Direction (KIND) and the NOVA Committee to cook a meal for 300 people.
Vice President and General Manager of Flow, Simone Martin-Sulgan, said the initiative is part of its Annual Mission Week, which focusses on community support.
“Last year we went to a school, we gave out devices, we showed them about ICT and technology, and this year we decided to do something a little different.”
Ms. Martin-Shulgan explained that their effort aligns with Flow’s commitment to its core values which is connect, care, and commit.
“With tomorrow being World Kindness Day, we actually came in and we brought most of our employees out today to help prepare 300 meals for the homeless and those less fortunate.”
The team gathered to make traditional Trinbagonian corn soup. The meals were distributed to the homeless in key locations around Port of Spain.
“So we all did this internally, so this is part of our internal give back, so we fund this 100%, and like I said, we’ve partnered with the NOVA Committee, KIND, and the kitchen to make sure that that money, you know, we maximise the spend and we got as many people as possible.”
She shared that the Love All Serve All Kitchen is always open to partnering with organisations.
“An institution like Serve All Kitchen, they’re always looking for support from anywhere. I mean, they are a public entity, they are non-profit, which means that it takes corporate sponsors like us to help make their jobs easier.”
Chairperson of the NOVA Committee, Krista-Lee Lookit, said the Committee was very excited to be a part of the initiative.
“It is also a reflection of the values of the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce where giving back to society is a priority.”
Even though it’s a part of their Mission Week, their way of giving back also coincides with World Kindness Day which is commemorated annually on November 13th.
