Former Senior Men’s footballer and member of the 1989 Strike Squad, Ricky Nelson, has died.
The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association confirmed the passing of Nelson on Wednesday, after a period of illness.
The defender, who also played club football for the Defence Force, was one of three Tobago players on the Strike Squad for the 1990 World Cup qualifying campaign.
The TTFA stated that “Ricky served the red, white, and black with commitment and distinction, representing Trinidad and Tobago during a golden era that inspired a nation. His contributions on and off the field remain part of our footballing legacy, and he will be remembered for the passion, discipline, and pride he brought to the game.”
