Four suspects were arrested for various offences including Firearm Possession, during ongoing State of Emergency Operations conducted across the country this week.
In the Southern Division, Task Force officers conducted an exercise between 11pm on August 19th, 2025 and 3am on August 20th, 2025, during which they arrested a 22-year-old Gasparillo man and a 20-year-old Moruga man, for being in possession of a firearm and quantity of ammunition.
The exercise was coordinated by Snr. Supt. Simon, Supt. Jaikaran, ASP Ramsaran and Insp. Wilkinson.
Meanwhile, personnel of the Inter-Agency Task Force conducted an exercise in the Port of Spain district between 2pm and 8pm, yesterday, during which they proceeded to an abandoned structure in the Belmont area, where they found several packages of cannabis with a combined weight of 1.5 kilogrammes.
The operation was spearheaded by ACP Hazel, Snr. Supt. Sooker, Supt. Ramsook and ASP Singh and assisted by officers of the Canine Branch.
Also, in the Western Division, officers of the Maraval Police Station conducted an exercise in the district between 7am and 8:30am, yesterday, which resulted in the arrest of a male suspect who was found in possession of a white Nissan Almera, which was earlier reported stolen.
And officers of the Northern Division’s Gang Unit and Task Force, Area South, conducted an intelligence-led exercise between 1:30am and 4:30pm, on August 18th, 2025, utilising the powers granted by the Emergency Powers Regulations 2025.
During the exercise, an Arima man, suspected to have acted in a manner prejudicial to public safety in accordance to Regulation 13(1) of the Emergency Powers Regulations, 2025, was apprehended.
Investigations are ongoing into all of the above matters.
