One man was arrested and a firearm and a quantity of ammunition seized following a Police-Involved Shooting Incident in the Southern Division this week.
Reports indicate that officer of the Gasparillo Police Station were on mobile patrol around 11:20am on Wednesday 20th August, 2025, when they received information relative to an alleged drug transaction being conducted by armed suspects in the Claxton Bay area.
The officers proceeded to the location where they observed three male suspects, who, on seeing the officers, attempted to flee.
It is alleged that one of the suspects drew a black metal object resembling that of a firearm from his pants waist and pointed it in the direction of the officers.
One officer, in keeping with the Use of Force Policy, fired his service pistol in the direction of the gunman.
The man was hit, fell backwards and then conveyed to the San Fernando General Hospital for treatment.
Officers recovered one firearm and three rounds of ammunition from the scene.
The injured suspect is a 27-year-old Gasparillo man.
A second suspect, also of Gasparillo, was apprehended shortly after, while the search continues for the third.
Investigations are ongoing.
