A 23 year old Port of Spain man has been remanded into custody for the killing of Police Constable Dale Mayers.
Ishmael Clarke, an unemployed man of George Street, Port of Spain, appeared virtually at the High Court charged with Murder, Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of Ammunition.
The sufficiency hearing date has been set for February 28th, 2025.
On May 13th, PC Mayers and two companions were at a Chaguanas establishment, when a male gunman entered and attempted to commit a robbery. There was an exchange of gunfire and PC Mayers was fatally wounded, while the suspect fled the scene. The male suspect was subsequently arrested at the Port of Spain General Hospital, where he was being treated for a gunshot wound.
