The Government of Trinidad and Tobago has announced the appointment of new leadership to the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) as part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening national security.
President Christine Kangaloo ORTT has made three significant appointments to senior positions within the military, with instruments presented during a formal ceremony this week at the Office of the Attorney General.
Captain Don Polo has been appointed as the Chief of Defence Staff of the TTDF, the highest-ranking military position. Colonel Dwayne Edwards has been promoted to Commanding Officer of the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment, while Captain Ahkenathon Issac has been appointed as Commanding Officer of the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard.
The appointments were presented by senior government officials including Attorney General Senator the Honourable John Jeremie S.C., Minister of Defence the Honourable Wayne Sturge M.P., and Minister of Homeland Security the Honourable Roger Alexander M.P.

The government emphasized that these leadership changes are part of its broader strategy to enhance national security capabilities. According to an official statement, the appointments reflect the government’s commitment to maintaining and improving the operational effectiveness of the TTDF.
The formal presentation of instruments of appointment took place at the Office of the Attorney General Conference Room, located in the AGLA Tower at Government Plaza on Richmond Street in Port-of-Spain.
The three officers will assume their new roles immediately and will be responsible for overseeing the operations, training, and readiness of their respective commands.
